A localized version of It's Academic for the Buffalo area of New York. ==Broadcast== WBEN 4 196? - 197?
WGRZ NBC 2 04/08 - Present ==Packagers== Altman Productions
Full Circle Studios (2008-present) ==Hosts== Van Miller
Kevin O'Neal ==Formats== ===Former=== Round 1 is a one minute scrimmage round worth +/-10 points a question. For the next three rounds, each team is individually asked 10 questions worth 10 points each. The team to the immediate left of the team that is supposed to answer chooses which packet from a rack of 10 the answering team will use. Answering all ten questions correctly also scored a 50 point bonus, for a total of 125 points. For rounds two and three, incorrect answers lost 10 points the team in control can choose to pass a question which only incurred half a penalty. At the end of their turn, the other teams can go for the passed questions at the risk of a penalty if they're wrong. In the third round, the team in control can go for double value (+/-20 points). The final round is the "Grab Bag" round which consisted of quick-fire toss-up questions, each worth +/-20 points. The number of questions varies depending on the time left in the game. The game ends when the time is up. ====1979 Changes==== *There ware only two individual rounds. *The numbers of choose-able packets have been reduced to seven. *There was visual round and category round in between the two individual rounds. *The bonus was reduced to 25 points. ===Current=== Each contest is composed of five rounds. Round 1 is a category round with eight questions, all centered around a theme (e.g., "the letter B" or "famous paintings"). Questions do not appear on the players' monitors but do appear for the viewing audience. In Round 2, each team is individually asked five questions worth 20 points each. Round 3 is a toss-up visual round. The monitor displays an image and the host provides a question accompanying the image. Teams receive 10 points for each correct answer and lose 10 for each incorrect answer. Eight questions are used. In Round 4, the captain of each team introduces the sponsors and administrators. There are three question packets from which to choose. The team to the immediate left of the team that is supposed to answer chooses which packet the answering team will use. Eight questions are given to each team, with 20 points for a correct answer and no penalties. A 25 point bonus is given if a team correctly answers all eight questions, for a total of 185 points in this round. Round 5 features toss-up questions, each worth +/-20 points. Visual questions are worth 10 points more or +/-30 points. The number of questions varies depending on the time left in the game. The game ends when the time is up. ==YouTube Links== An Episode
Closing of a 1982 Game
Playlist for It's Academic
