The 1988 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions was the fourth edition of the Tournament of Champions in the Alex Trebek era of Jeopardy!, held during the syndicated show's fifth season.

- Sandra Gore is the first female to become a finalist in the ToC.
- Michael Rankins has a history of appearing on The Chase in 2021 and earning $165,000 along with College Championship semifinalist Daniel Donohue.
- Gore, Rankins, Mark Lowenthal, Bruce Naegeli, Richard Perez-Peña, Kate Waits, Leah Greenwald, and Bruce Seymour returned in 1990 for Super Jeopardy!. Seymour was the champion, while the others failed to advance past the quarterfinals.
- Roy Holliday returned in 1993 for the 10th Anniversary Tournament, but failed to advance to the finals.
- Rankins returned in 1998 for the Battle of the Bay Area Brains, which he won.
- Naegeli, Gore, Holliday, Rankins, Greenwald, Lowenthal, and Barbara-Anne Eddy returned in 2005 for the Ultimate Tournament of Champions. Rankins, Greenwald and Naegeli reached the second round (with Naegeli losing to eventual champion Brad Rutter).
- Michael Block was also invited, but declined.
- Lowenthal returned in 2014 for the Battle of the Decades, where he reached the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Brad Rutter.
