The 1998 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions was the 13th edition of the Tournament of Champions in the Alex Trebek era of Jeopardy! This was the first Tournament of Champions to have two winners of the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament.

  • Eligibility lasted from December 2, 1996 to January 30, 1998.
  • At the time, this ToC and the 1994 ToC had the longest cycle, lasting 425 days.
  • This is the first ToC to be held in a different month (February) than its predecessor ToCs (November). As a result, 1997 is the first year to not have a ToC.
  • Bob Willoughby was the alternate for this ToC.
  • The second semifinal game marked the last game with the "Bonus" category.
  • For this ToC only, the tournament logo was the contestant backdrop.
  • Starting this season, the prize money for 3rd and 2nd place has risen to $10,000 and $15,000, respectively.
    • Players eliminated in the quarterfinals received $2,500, an increase from $1,000 from previous editions of the ToC.
