Contest Related[]
- Eligibility lasted from July 4, 2003 (the game after 5-time champ Kevin Keach, the last qualifier for the 2001 ToC, retired undefeated) to April 25, 2003 (last regular play game before this ToC).
- This is the last ToC in the 5-win system and the first ToC to use a digital scoreboard.
- First ToC after the clue values are doubled.
- It is also the first ToC in history where the champions of three seasons participated.
- Clue values were doubled to their current amounts on November 26, 2001. Three players in the S19 ToC (Alan Bailey, Mark Dawson, and Trevor Norris) played before this doubling, and their seeding is based on their winnings being doubled.
- In this ToC, as many as 6 people were $0, and 2 people recorded negative scores. As a result, the WC was covered by the DJ's score.
- Starting this season, the prize money for 3rd place has risen to $25K, the prize money for runner-up is $50K, and the prize money for winner is $250K.
- First ToC to feature players from three seasons
Contestant Related[]
- Among them, Alan and Mark D were scheduled to appear in the previous ToC, but the previous season was full of 15 players, so it was postponed to the next ToC. The qualification period for the previous ToC ended early due to Kevin Keach's fifth win.
- Vinita was planned to be in this tournament but due to her college studies that year, she was carried over to the 2004 Tournament of Champions. This is the first ToC participant to postpone their chance to participate in ToC until next year.
- Brian is the last player to break the minimum guarantee in ToC.
- Mark D unofficially (before the 2x standard) became the first ToC winner to accumulate more than the ToC winning prize money in regular games.
