Eligibility lasted from November 16, 2011 to January 29, 2013 (Joshua Brakhage's fifth game, he won said game and was eligible for the 2014 ToC).
Last ToC from 2009-13 set (CES Set).
This tournament is the first time since Season 21 where the champions in the quarterfinals were in the order of how much money they have won in their initial appearances.
For the second time following Season 21, as of this year's ToC, no Season 28 champions who participated in the ToC made it to the Finals.
Like Seasons 25 and 28, the ToC started on a different day.
Participate Related[]
7 of the ToC entrants competed together in a regular game. It is also the first season in history that three players who competed in regular games got the right to advance to the ToC in a row.
Jason Keller → Dave Leach → Dan McShane
Keith Whitener → Paul Nelson
Ashok Poozhikunnel → Kristin Morgan
Dan McShane was able to make it to the ToC thanks to S31 ToC entrant 5-time champion Joshua Brakhage in pre-ToC episodes. If Joshua had stopped on his 5 games, Joshua would have taken Dan's place by the prize pool (4th Streak Prize - $69,611).
Keith is the only person to have a rematch twice in the ToC. In the Final, he met Kristin, whom he had competed in the quarterfinals, and in the semifinals, he met Paul, whom he lost to in his regular appearances.[1]
With Colby's victory, he became the second ToC winner ever from another tournament winner, following S6 ToC winner Tom Cubbage.
Paul Nelson is the only player (to participate in the ToC) to not come up with a single correct response in Final Jeopardy during his regular appearances.[2]
