Notes[]
Contest Related[]
- Eligibility lasted from September 15, 2014 (first game of Season 31) to November 6, 2015.
- First ToC with tiebreaker rule in place.
Contestant Related[]
- After S29, it is the second season in history that three players who competed in regular games have earned the right to advance to the ToC in a row (Vaughn → Elliot → John).
- Michael is first 3-time champion in ToC participant since S24 ToC player Nick Swezey and Doug Hicton. It is also the last case among the 3-time champions to advance to the ToC on their own until 2024 ToC.
- Kristin is the wife of Justin Sausville, who appeared on S28 ToC, and is the first time more than two executives from her family have made their way to ToC[1].
- Catherine is last participant in ToC to win one of her games as a co-champion. Also, her appearances in regular play aired before 25th ToC; she nonetheless competed in this ToC[2].
- With Alex Jacob winning, the ToC winner broke the jinx that the last regular game was unconditionally 3rd.
- Alex Jacob is the first and only ToC winner to make it through the entire ToC round by not coming with a single correct response in Final Jeopardy[3].
Additional Page[]
Just as there is a saying that the ball is round in the World Cup, various surprises occurred in ToC this time. In particular, the DD utilization strategy was the difference between the game this time as well. Roger Craig won the S28 with a bold DD slide, this time Alex Jacob won with this slide.
Nevertheless, the reason he was able to win was because he decided to win from a distance, winning all but two rounds with Lock Game. In particular, in the final match against Matt, he succeeded in $15,200 DD and widened the gap, and as Matt was shaken by that, he was unable to close the gap, and Alex eventually won the championship. In the end, Matt, who was a strong candidate for the championship, stayed in the runner-up, and the brutal story that Superchampion could not win continued.
In particular, he often comes up with funny answers on purpose. For example, 'What is Aleve?' or 'Who is good game guy'... to entertain everyone. Think of it as a form of fan service[4]. In addition, it can be seen that as the rounds of ToC are repeated, the active players stand out.

- ↑ If there is something in common in the ToCs they appeared in, all the finalists advanced on their own, and the winners won with great DD success.
- ↑ Through this, it can be seen that the 25th ToC recruitment ended with the end of S30 (July 18, 2014). Otherwise, she would not have qualified for the ToC, behind Mark Japinga’s winning streak ($112,600).
- ↑ All three before that finished third. (Marvin Shinkman (S3), Steve Fried (S16), Stefan Goodreau (S26)) With the introduction of the best-of-seven system from 2022, the difficulty level has increased, and this record is expected to continue.
- ↑ Later, when Buzzy Cohen or Roger Craig decides the match, there are times when FJ deliberately writes funny answers.
