Celebrity Jeopardy! is a spinoff that features celebrities competing in the classic quiz show to win money for their favorite charities. It started out as a series of special weeks on the regular show, and later it was spoofed in a series of Saturday Night Live (SNL) shorts; now the show is its own primetime series.
Gameplay[]
Like its sister show Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, the show is played with the same three celebrities for the entire show. The difference is that there is one game per show (unlike most 21st century ABC game shows and some on other networks).
The basic gameplay remains intact, just like the regular game and past celebrity specials. But there is one new addition to the show. The addition is that there is a third round called Triple Jeopardy! This means that the clue values on the board is tripled and of course there is three Daily Doubles lurking somewhere on the board to assist the celebrity contestants. Also, the show welcomes back the old Jeopardy! round amounts, not used since the doubling of the dollar amounts in 2001. Mayim Bialik hosted and was referred to as "Here is the host of Celebrity Jeopardy!" by Johnny Gilbert.
For this season only, a custom clue is given related to the clue that was played. The clue is given before the break and after the break, the answer is revealed.
Money Amounts[]
Rounds | Amounts | Total |
---|---|---|
Jeopardy! | $100-$500 | $9,000 |
Double Jeopardy! | $200-$1,000 | $18,000 |
Triple Jeopardy! | $300-$1,500 | $27,000 |
NOTE: The celebrities' charities, don't actually get the money scored in each match. For as with all tournaments, the scores are kept in points (dollar signs are kept for aesthetic purposes). So, as you look at the summary below, ignore the dollar signs and pretend that they are really point values.
Tournament Structure[]
The Tournament Structure is basically the same as the one in Super Jeopardy!, Ultimate Tournament of Champions, Jeopardy! National College Championship, Second Chance Tournament and S39~ Tournament of Champions: No wild cards, it's "win or go home".
A series of nine quarterfinal games is played. The winner of each game will advance to the semifinals where the three winners from those games will compete in the final for $1,000,000 to their favorite charity.
For this season only, the quarterfinals are held every three times, followed by the semifinals.

Trivia[]
- The last related word question of Triple Jeopardy! in this tournament was presented as a video by former champions. The performers, in order, are Buzzy Cohen, Austin Rogers, Ken Jennings, Ryan Long, Brad Rutter, Matt Amodio, Colby Burnett, Mattea Roach, Amy Schneider, and James Holzhauer.
- Ike Barinholtz was also part of the parody sketch of Jeopardy! in MADtv where he portrayed as Alex Trebek.
- This was the first time a tournament has nine quarterfinals since the Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational tournament.
- Game 1 marked Andy Richter’s first defeat overall on the show. Richter won his quarterfinal in the 2009-2010 Jeopardy! Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational but dropped out of the semifinals due to a scheduling conflict. he is also the only contestant to have competed on the show prior to this tournament.
- Constance Wu's adjusted $23,000 True Daily Double broke the record for highest True Daily Double wager, taking the record from James Holzhauer, who wagered 20,200 in the last game of the Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time tournament (James still holds the record for highest overall Daily Double wager, at $25,000).
- However, Wu's adjusted $46,000 loss in Final Jeopardy! also broke the record for most money lost in a single Final Jeopardy, taking the record away from Matt Amodio, who lost $37,000 in his eleventh game.
- Iliza Shlesinger is the only female celebrity to make it to the semifinals game for this season.
- The winner of this competition, Ike Barinholtz, will appear in the next ToC. This is a first among celebrities.
- Perhaps because of its popularity, it is said that the next season of this tournament is also being prepared. As a result, celebrities can also appear regularly on ToC, just like the annual event.
- Andy Richter, John Michael Higgins, and Patton Oswalt previously appeared on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
- Brendan Hunt, Ego Nwodim, and Matt Rogers later appeared on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
- Candance Parker, Jalen Rose, Ray Romano and Simu Liu previously appeared on Celebrity Family Feud.
- Wil Wheaton later appeared on Celebrity Family Feud.
