BBQ Blitz (or Barbecue Blitz) was a six-episode reality competition series where host Eddie Jackson hit the city and welcomed three of the best grillers, smokers and fire-roasters to compete in an outdoor cook-off for a grand prize of $5,000 and BBQ (Barbecue) bragging rights.

The action took place in front of a crowd of cheering spectators and began with Eddie challenging each competitor to transform their signature grilled masterpiece into a completely different dish for two hungry judges. After an elimination, he would choose one special ingredient that the remaining two had to turn into the BBQ dish of their lives. The judges then determined who cooked the best bite and the $5,000 grand-prize winner was named in front of fans with stadium-styled hoopla. Each judging panel mixed culinary experts including Ingrid Hoffman and Kent Rathbun with Eddie's food-obsessed pals like former NFL players Anthony Lucas and Ken Hamlin.

Before the show, Eddie Jackson was the winner of the 11th season of The Next Food Network Star in 2015. In addition, he was also a former professional football player from 2004 until 2008 with the Carolina Panthers (2004), then the Miami Dolphins (2005-2006), New England Patriots (2007) and the Washington Redskins (2008).
