Be a Star was a revival of You Can Be a Star.

Premise[]
Each day, four aspiring country and western singers performed for a panel of ten audience judges and when finished, they received a score of up to 100 points from each judge for a maximum total of 1000 points. At the end of each show, the singer with the highest score returned on Friday's show to compete for the weekly championship. After twelve weeks, the 12 weekly winners along with four wild card performers came back to compete in the grand championship week where the grand champion won a cash prize of $25,000 (later $50,000) and a major recording contract deal.
