Beat the Chefs was a short-lived hour long cooking competition show where everyday people who love to cook set out to prove that their family reciepes are worth prize money and bragging rights.
Premise[]
The series featured two families (one in each half-hour of the episode) preparing their family recipe while the professional chefs cooked a restaurant version of the same meal. The family began by revealing the dish they had selected to cook to the chefs as well as how longer they thought it would take to prepare it. The chefs were then given the same amount of time to create their own version. Once the first cook-off was complete, the second family was brought out, and the procedure was repeated with their own meal. After the second cook-off, the judges would reveal the winning dish from each round. If the family's home cooked meal beat the chefs' professional version, the family won $25,000; however, if the chefs won, the family received $1,000 worth of kitchen supplies.
End-of-Show Disclaimers[]
Decisions were made by the judges with input from Producers.
Some deliberations occurred off-camera.
Trivia[]
The Show Premiered the same day Right After The Series Premiere of The American Bible Challenge Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy
