"I'm Valerie Bertinelli and welcome to Bingo Blitz!"
"This is an article for the 2025 version, for the interactive version that also aired on GSN in 2009, see Bingo Blitz (1)"
This version of Bingo Blitz based on the Israeli format and free-to-play app of the same name, features two contestants who compete in a dynamic blend of trivia and bingo.
Premise[]
The ultimate game of knowledge, strategy and luck, contestants answer trivia to earn bingo balls and points. In addition to numbered bingo balls, players also receive gold balls they can strategically place on their cards to increase their chances of making a bingo. Bingos earn the players bonus points, and special 'power-ups' on the players' cards earn them extra points, bingo balls and prizes. After three rounds, the player with the highest score advances to the fast-action Blitz round, where making a bingo in 60 seconds or less awards them $10,000.
Gameplay[]
Main Game[]
Two contestants are given bingo cards (one in purple to one contestant, one in blue to the other contestant). They take turns answering multiple-choice questions (each one having four answers to choose from) to score points and receive bingo balls to mark off numbers on their cards to get bingos and score even more points.
Rounds 1 & 2[]
The contestants take turns answering questions, with each correct answer scoring a contestant 50 points and earning them two numbered balls which mark off numbers on their card, and a gold ball which they use to mark off any number they want. If a contestant misses their question, their opponent gets a shot at that question. Each bingo scores a contestant 100 points.
Each contestant also has two star-shaped power-up spaces on their card. If one of those spaces gets marked, it scores a contestant a bonus of 100 points.
At the start of round two, each contestant has a treasure chest placed on one of the remaining spaces on their card. If a contestant gets the treasure chest space marked on their card, they win a special prize, such as cash ($100, $250, or $500), an extra gold ball, or bonus points.
NOTE: A contestant can only score extra points from the power-up spaces and win a prize from the treasure chest space if they receive bingo balls with numbers that correspond to those spaces; the extra points and prize are not received by a contestant for using a gold ball to mark those particular spaces.
Round 3[]
Each contestant is given a new card with five numbers marked off at random. One contestant is shown two categories to choose from, with the remaining category going to the other contestant. Each contestant has 45 seconds to answer up to ten questions, with each question in their category having the same four answers to choose from. Each correct answer earns a contestant a bingo ball, while each incorrect answer gives a bingo ball to their opponent. A contestant scores 100 points for each correct answer and 500 points for each bingo.
The contestant with the most points after three rounds wins the game and moves on to the bonus round.
Bonus Round[]
The winning contestant is given one more bingo card with five numbers marked at random. Up to ten numbered balls come into play, and the contestant must answer a question correctly in order to have a number marked off on their card, or that number will be out of play. This time, the questions are not multiple-choice. The contestant has 60 seconds to get a bingo; doing so wins the contestant $10,000, while failing to do so wins them $1,000.
