Robert “Bob” Emmett McGrath (born June 13, 1932, died December 4, 2022) was an American actor and singer well-known for being Bob on the long-running PBS children's show, Sesame Street. He was one of the many adult characters that appeared on the show. His role in character was a music teacher. Prior to working on Sesame Street, McGrath was a recording artist in Japan, stemming from his role as a regular vocalist on the NBC series Sing Along with Mitch from 1959-1964. In game show world, McGrath appeared as a challenger on To Tell the Truth (1966) and I've Got a Secret (1967), followed years later by a week as a celebrity guest on Definition in 1980. Besides his work on Sesame Street, McGrath released solo albums featuring children's songs (even ones from the show) and published some children's books as well. McGrath lived in Teaneck, New Jersey with his wife and later moved to a ranch in Norwood, New Jersey. He died on December 4, 2022 at his home at the age of 90 from complications of a stroke.
