Perri takes three jokers to the car game, places two of the jokers on 1 and 7 - which contestants usually stayed away from - and wins the car! Perri then faces new challenger, Steve.

389	7/17/1987	Perri	Brian	Round 2 of the Perri vs. Brian match begins at the start of the show. Brian defeats Perri in a very short match that lasted only two questions. Brian wins $3,000 on the Money Cards, with a lot of high and low cards on the board. He does not win the car. (total: $3,200) New match with Brian vs. Jane begins. An embarrassing educated guess question about toilet paper was asked. Jane leads the match one game to none as time runs out.

(total: $14,623) Steve's new challenger is Nita. Match is tied one game apiece at the end of the show. Bob starts to plug next week's Young People's Week VII during the closing segment.
393	7/23/1987	Steve	Nita	Show starts off with Steve and Nita starting a tiebreaker. Steve defeats Nita, who leaves with $100. During the Money Cards, instead of changing the five on the second row, he chooses to bet $3,500 of his $4,000 - he wins his bet. Steve wins $15,000 on the Money Cards, but fails to win the car. (total: $29,723) Steve now faces new challenger Kimberly. An educated guess question reveals there are 1,076 calories in a single pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream. Steve defeats Kimberly, and will play his third Money Cards at the start of the next show.

NOTE: Due to the Oliver North testimony coverage which resulted in seven days of pre-emptions and screwed up the CBS airdate schedule, in order to start Young People's Week on a Monday, Eps. 397 to 399 with adults playing aired on July 29, 30 and 31, 1987, and Eps. 400 and 401 aired on August 10 and 11, 1987 respectively. Young People's Week aired on August 3 to 7, 1987 as a result. It can be inferred that Young People's Week was actually the second week of episodes taped after Ep. 396, and was originally slated to start airing on a Monday in July 1987.

As time runs out, Spontaneous became the champion. Third episode with no end game played. Spontaneous will play the Money Cards and trip game on the next show.
404	8/5/1987	Erich	Michelle	Show starts with Spontaneous playing the Money Cards and trip game. She wins $10,600 but no trip (final total: $10,800). After Bob kisses Spontaneous goodbye, followed by commercials, two new card sharks, Erich and Michelle, start a new match. Bob makes his second reference to The Newlywed Game in the series. Such reference was also mentioned on March 20, 1987. Michelle defeats Erich, and plays the Money Cards just before Bob signs off. She would play for a trip on the next show.
405	8/6/1987	Jenny	Matt	Show starts with Michelle playing for a trip to Hawaii. She places the jokers on cards 1 and 7 - which an average contestant would refuse to pick - and loses. New match with Jenny Lewis vs. Matt begins. Jenny Lewis was a child actress who regularly appeared on the short-lived sitcom Life with Lucy as one of Lucille Ball's grandchildren. Lewis also appeared in several commercials including Toys-R-Us and Cinnamon Toast Crunch; and later became an indie rock singer. Jenny wins a $500 exact guess bonus on a 100 people question. Matt defeats Jenny, and wins $4,000 on the Money Cards. Trip cue starts to play when it shouldn't. The producers quickly realized their mistake. Matt takes three jokers to the trip game and wins the trip (final total: $7,#96). As Matt heads off to Hawaii, a new match with Jeremy vs. Lisa begins. Jeremy wins a $100 exact guess bonus on an audience poll question. Match continues on the next show.
406	8/7/1987	Jeremy	Lisa	Match between Jeremy vs. Lisa continues at Question 2 in Round 1. Lisa defeats Jeremy, and Young People's Week VII goes out on a high note, as Lisa wins $6,### on the Money Cards and wins the trip to Hawaii (Lisa did mention she was the only child in her family, so Bob mentioned, since it is a trip for four, she could bring a friend if she wanted to). (final total: $#,###) During the closing segment, Bob thanked the audience polling group, and two of the fathers showed off their babies on the set, one of their names revealed to be Danielle. Bob also mentioned that there would be another Young People's Week in the near future just before he signed off. It could be inferred that it may have occurred later in August 1987.

NOTE: The remaining episodes from the taping day prior to Young People's Week taping day continue from July 31, and shows from the taping day after Young People's Week start to air on Wednesday. CBS airs Card Sharks in order by scheduled airdate, while GSN does air the show in production order.

It can be inferred that, soon down the road, some weeks may have more or less episodes taped in order to get back on track with starting a different audience polling group and changing the car being offered on a Monday again.

As time runs out, Debbie leads the match 1-0.

Debbie now faces new challenger Edward. An educated guess referred to 28,000 viewers at an average baseball game, and how many hot dogs are sold. The answer? 28,000 - that's one hot dog per person! Edward wins a $100 exact guess bonus on a 10-people survey question. By the end of the show, Edward leads the match 1-0.

NOTE: It is believed that episodes #513 to #520, which were, of course, Young Peoples' Week X and XI, were taped after the first three weeks of shows from January 1988. When the first show of 1988 aired, the educated guess reveal did not have the pastel-green border and were still in Helvetica font.

Also, during the next eight episodes, the educated guess reveals now have a pastel green border and the answer is shown in a Clarendon-style font if a larger number of characters or actual words or abbreviations were used. Although, when referring to production order, such border and font were first used in the taping of Ep. 502, first aired on January 11, 1988, which was taped before these next eight episodes shown below.

Card Sharks, along with The $25,000 Pyramid, were both pre-empted on December 25, 1987 for a re-airing of the 1972 TV movie The House Without a Christmas Tree, which starred Jason Robards. This means that each of the coming two weeks had only four episodes taped apiece.

Gene Wood returns to the mic after Charlie O'Donnell filled in for a couple weeks.

Gretchen vs. Mike match lasts just two questions, with Mike running the cards after winning each question, shutting Gretchen out, and Mike defeats Gretchen as a result. During the Money Cards, Mike tries to avoid betting all his money on a deuce, but Bob convinces him to bet it all, and he can't lose. Mike wins $6,300, loses the prize package, but receives a television as a consolation prize (total: $7,110) Lonnie vs. Alice match begins immediately after the end game in the same segment. During the second audience poll question, Lonnie says something deemed risque, which was garbled for broadcast. This also occurred on August 26, 1986 when Asa also made a risque statement. Lonnie wins a $500 exact guess bonus on a 100-people question. Match between Lonnie and Alice continues on the next program. Last episode with Christmas references for 1987.

As Young Peoples' Week X transitions into Young People's Week XI, Bob Goen does a series of intermittent cameos for the week of December 28 to 31, 1987 to plug his game show disaster Blackout which would premiere the following Monday, January 4, 1988, replacing The $25,000 Pyramid.

Also, animal trainers are used in educated guess questions this week.

Card Sharks was pre-empted on January 1, 1988 for coverage of the Cotton Bowl Parade.

When Bob introduces the contestants at the start of the show, Bob Goen arrives to the podium instead of Jeremy, for the purpose of plugging Blackout. Jeremy comes in afterwards. This episode has an educated guess question involving an ostrich who attacks Lacey afterwards! Amanda wins $13,000 on the Money Cards, plus the holiday prize package! (total: $24,031) At this point, Amanda is the biggest Young People's Week winner in the series. New match between Andrew and Kara begins, and continues into Thursday.
