Carol Elaine Channing (b. January 31, 1921 – d. January 15, 2019) was an American actress, singer, dancer, and comedienne, known for starring in Broadway and film musicals. Her characters usually radiated a fervent expressiveness and an easily identifiable voice, whether singing or for comedic effect. Channing died on January 15, 2019, from natural causes at the age of 97, just 16 days short of her 98th birthday. She was predeceased by her fourth husband, Harry Kullijian, who died in 2011. There is a foundation named after Channing and Kullijian called The Dr. Carol Channing and Harry Kullijian Foundation, which helps promote arts education for young people.
