Dance Your Ass Off (or Dance Your A** Off with the two stars representing the "S" in season two and abbreviated as DYAO) was a short-lived, two season reality dance and weight loss competition show where competitors are paired with professional dancers in hopes of impressing judges and the home viewing audience.
Premise[]
In this series, talented, full-figured contestants who struggle with their weight dance to unleash their inner thin. Each contestant is paired with a professional dance partner who trains them for their weekly stage performances raging from Hip Hop to Ballroom and even Pole Dancing. Then, they shake and rattle their rolls in front of a live studio audience and a panel of expert judges. Contestants' dance scores are combined with their percent weight loss to determine who goes home each week. The winner takes home $100,000, but everybody leaves with a desire for a healthier lifestyle.

Additional Note[]
On July 21, 2009 Australia's Nine Network begun airing the series after one episode for which it attained a low 797,000 viewers (compared with numbers of 1.4-1.6 million viewers on the other two major commercial networks) and coming third out of fifth in overall ratings for the night by a substantial margin. Dance Your Ass Off got some of the lowest numbers the network has seen before in prime-time. Nine Network removed the show from their schedule and replaced it with episodes of 20 to 1.
There was much criticism to the Nine Network airing the U.S. series, considering that the Oxygen Network is the lowest-viewed niche cable network in the U.S. that only targets young women exclusively with their programming, whereas Nine in Australia is a major free-to-air broadcaster for the mass market. Within three weeks, the programme was moved to Nine's multicast digital channel GO! from August 15, 2009 and concluding it's run on October 17, 2009 with the finale episode.
The show was also panned in its reviews as well in Australia prior to its premiere with websites such as TV Tonight giving it a measly 0.5/5 stars.
