Daniel Avila is the first and only person to make it to the top prize on Greed. To win the $2,200,000, he had to name 4 out of the 9 most recognizable smells (out of baby powder, peanut butter, moth balls, tuna, coffee, dry cat food, chocolate, cinnamon, and Vicks Vaporub). He correctly guessed peanut butter, coffee, and Vicks Vaporub; missing the largest cash prize in TV history by only one answer, which was chocolate (he guessed tuna instead). He later appeared in the Tournament of Losers beating former team member Jackie Brakeman (eliminated by Curtis Warren) in the Million Dollar Moment. This time, he had to name 4 out of the 8 cities most visited by overseas travelers in 1998 (out of Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, New York City, Boston, and New Orleans). He correctly guessed Los Angeles, New York City, and Orlando; but once again, he only missed the question by one answer, which was Miami (he guessed Las Vegas instead). His brother, Ernie appeared on Super Greed as captain of a team. He was eliminated but won $10,000 from the Terminator. Daniel later appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Meredith Vieira, winning $100,000. Before Greed, he appeared on Tom Kennedy's Break the Bank and the pilot for Scattergories. He also appeared on Jeopardy!, winning $5,300.
