Brooke Lisa Burke (now Brooke Burke-Charvet) (born September 8, 1971) is an American actress, dancer, model, author and television personality. She is known for Rock Star (2005–2006), winning the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars and for co-hosting Dancing With the Stars starting in 2010 (season ten).
Early Life[]
Burke was born in Hartford, Connecticut and raised in Tucson, Arizona. She is the oldest of nine children born to Donna and George Burke. Burke's mother was adopted. Burke's ancestry includes French, Irish, and Portuguese (her maternal grandfather was Portuguese). Burke was raised in her mother's Jewish religion, and is also raising her children Jewish. She attended both Sahuaro High School and Palo Verde High School in Tucson where she was homecoming queen in 1989, and later studied broadcast journalism.
Her Career[]
- Brooke has modeled for countless number of magazines, including Playboy, Maxim, Stuff & FHM.
- Starting in 1999, she made the jump to the hosting world by hosting E!'s Wild On!. She hosted the show from 1999-2002. Incidentally, future Price is Right model Rachel Reynolds auditioned for that show around the time Brooke left.
- In 2005 and 2006 Burke hosted the CBS summer reality show, Rock Star, a series in which aspiring singers competed to front a rock band.
- In 2008, Brooke competed alongside Derek Hough in season 7 of Dancing with the Stars and went on to win. Then two years later, she was asked to replace departing hostess Samantha Harris as new co-host which she accepted.
Personal Life[]
Brooke Burke's been married twice. The first time she was to Dr. Garth Fisher, a plastic surgeon; they were married from 2001-2005. Today she's currently married to former Baywatch hunk David Charvet; she even adopted her husband's last name in 2011.
