Eugene Edward "Gene" Wood (born October 20, 1925, from Quincy, Massachusetts; died May 21, 2004, in Boston, Massachusetts) was an announcer on many Mark Goodson shows as well as a host on a few others. When he retired from game shows in 1996, he did voice-overs for the Game Show Network until 1998. Wood died of lung cancer on May 21, 2004 at age 78.

  • Although Gene Wood's first announcing game show was Beat the Clock from 1969 to 1972, he later switched from announcing that show to hosting the show from '72 until '74.
  • Before Gene Wood announced Match Game in the early 1990s, he became a panelist in 1974.
