"HIGH FINANCE!, yes High Finance! the show that makes your dreams come true is brought to you by Mennen first name in good grooming. Mennen, makers of a host of fine products for good looks and good health, for men, for babies, for the entire family. And now, Mennen presents the man to make your dreams come true, the star of our show, Dennis James!"
High Finance was a short-lived precursor to Sale of the Century, but it was in a quiz-related subject.
Gameplay[]
On the program, contestants answered questions about current events.
To begin the game, the contestant would be asked five questions based on three newspapers which he/she studied before the show. Each correct answer earned $300. Giving at least three correct answers allowed the player to play the "investment segment" in which he/she played one level each week.
Each level had prizes that could be obtained by answering a question and spending some of their bankroll. A correct answer won the prizes, plus the option to risk them and return the next week to play another "investment segment" or keep any prizes won and leave the show; contestants who returned the following week had to sell back a portion of the prize winnings, increasing their bankroll so that they could earn more merchandise.
A fourth win would earn that player his or her "dream prize", such as a miniature golf course or a restaurant. A fifth successful "investment segment" won that player additional cash for a grand total of $75,000; sadly, prize winnings never exceeded $25,000 (although there were many contestants who won at least $10,000).
