Iliza Vie Shlesinger (born February 22, 1983) is an American comedian, winner of the sixth season of NBC's Last Comic Standing and host of the short lived syndicated dating show Excused.

Background[]

Shlesinger is from Dallas, Texas, where she attended the private Greenhill School and participated on the school's improv team. She is Jewish. Shlesinger performed with ComedySportz Dallas. She attended the University of Kansas for her freshman year. She also participated in Semester at Sea. She then transferred to Emerson College in Boston and majored in Film. There she was a member of the campus' comedy sketch group, Jimmy's Traveling All-Stars and refined her writing and editing skills. After graduating from college, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue stand-up. She was one of the most popular members of the "Whiteboy Comedy" group of stand-up comedians in Los Angeles which brought her to the stage at The Improv in Hollywood. Her ex-boyfriend is former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan.

Career[]

Shlesinger hosts The Weekly News on Stream.tv in 2007, Shlesinger won MySpace's So You Think Your Funny contest and has been featured on G4 network's Myspace Girl of the Week, Her television credits included: E! Network's Forbes Celebrity 100, TV Guide's America's Next Top Producer, John Oliver's New York Stand Up Show Season 3, Byron Allen's Comic's Unleashed and History Channel's History of a Joke. She has written for Heavy.com and had her own show on GOTV's mobile network. Shlesinger is a contributor to Surviving the Holidays with Lewis Black, a History Channel holiday special. Shlesinger was the narrator on the 2009 documentary Imagine It! The Power of Imagination.

Shlesinger co-stars along with Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, Holly Hunter and Octavia Spencer in the 2013 Diablo Cody directed film Paradise.

Last Comic Standing (Season 6)[]

Shlesinger became the first female and also the youngest winner of NBC's Last Comic Standing in the series' sixth season. She was twice selected by other comedians to compete in the head-to-head eliminations and won both times. She appeared in The Last Comic Standing Tour.

Excused[]

Shlesinger hosted Excused, a short-lived syndicated American reality-based dating competition series which ran for two seasons from 2011 until 2013.

Separation Anxiety[]

Shlesinger hosted Separation Anxiety with co-host Adam Ray that aired on TBS from March 8 until June 7, 2016.

Primetime Celebrity Jeopardy[]

In the second quarterfinal game, she faced off against Eddie Huang and Reggie Watts. Throughout the first three rounds, she came up with 40/53 correct responses (including 3/5 Daily Doubles). She was the only player correct in Final and advanced to the semifinals. Eddie and Reggie won $30,000 for their charities.

In the first semifinal game, she faced off against Ike Barinholtz and Simu Liu. Throughout the first three rounds, she came up with 23/28 correct responses (including 1/2 Daily Doubles). She was the only player who got Final incorrect, but after losing to Ike, she and Simu won $50,000 for their charities.
