Lechner appeared on the show on February 6, 2000, and made it to the Hot Seat with 4.84 seconds out of three contestants who responded correctly in Fastest Finger First. During his run to $1 million, Lechner made it up to the $250,000 question with the Ask the Audience and Phone-a-Friend lifelines used, but he considered himself a "complete sports illiterate" and walked away with $125,000.
