In the third quarterfinal game, he faced 4-time champion Susan Mitchell and 5-time champion Paul Glaser, answered fourteen right responses and only three wrong. In FJ!, he was the only person to come up with the right response. However, Susan and Paul made small wagers. As a result, all three made it to the semifinals.
In the second semifinal game, he faced 5-day champion Celeste DiNucci and 4-day champion Christian Haines. Leading going into FJ!, this time he was the only contestant who did not know the right response, which resulted in DiNucci and Haines taking part in the first tiebreaker in ToC history (won by DiNucci, who went on to the Finals and ultimately the championship). Spoeri won $10,000 as a semifinalist.
