Evalution[]
In general, there is no disagreement about the participants, but opinions differ in the format.
First of all, Jeopardy received a novel review for introducing the team system, but it was regrettable that the amount of distribution among team members was unfair. In particular, when the three of us split up, there was a case where one of us only solved FJ, so we called in talented people, and there were some opinions saying, 'Isn't it just a matter of solving only a few questions?' So, some people have opinions about what it would have been like if it had been an individual exhibition.
In addition, 4 consecutive champions appeared in UToC or BotD, but in this tournament, there were none except for Brad, who won 5 consecutive wins. There are also comments that players such as Dan Pawson, who won 9 in a row, and Arthur Chu, who won 11 in a row, were left out of the lineup.
In any case, this special feature was well received by many viewers, and the appearance of the contestants congratulating Alex and the appearance of all the contestants coming out to take pictures at the end moved many people. Also, Alex's death the next year after this special made it less nostalgic for those who remember it.
In addition, less than a month after the end of this special event, James Holzhauer made a big success by breaking various records with his amazing skills, so it was an opinion that it would have been more fun if he had appeared before the All-star Games. There are also more.
Trivia[]
Return match[]
Return matches were also a highlight in this competition:
- Austin vs Buzzy vs Alan: They met again for the first time in two years after the 2017 ToC, this time Buzzy, Alan, and Austin were ranked in the order. In this match, Alan, in Team Colby, won and advanced to the finals, and Alan proved his natural enemy by winning all three matches against Austin, and proved his strength by finishing runners-up and third place in both competitions, respectively.
- Ken vs Brad: Because of Jeopardy's rivalry, they have played a total of 4 battles including this one (UTOC, Battle of the Decades, Watson). Again, Team Brad won the championship and continued their undefeated streak, and afterward, Ken won the GOAT and played his final stage. was nicely decorated.
- Roger vs Colby: The two met in the Battle of the Decades Semifinal, with Roger winning and finishing third, but this time the opposite happened.
Others[]
- With the exception of Team Ken, one member of the team has won a ToC. Winners of other tournaments also participated, among which Leonard was invited as the first teen winner in 14 years after the ultimate tournament.
- If you look at the cast, not a single contestant appeared before 2000, and there was not 3~4 times champions. Also, the only person who participated before the unlimited winning streak was Brad Rutter.
- The absence of people like Arthur Chu, who has won 11 in a row, Dan Pawson and Jason Keller, who have won another 9 in a row, Drew Horwood, who has won 8 in a row, Greg Seroka and Tim Aten, who have won 7 in a row, Sandie Baker, Kerry Greene, and Jared Hall, who have won 6 in a row, Celeste DiNucci, who has won 5 in a row, Vijay Balse, who has won 4 in a row, Terry O'Shea, who has won the 2014 College Championship and Victoria Groce, who has defeated David Madden is a bit disappointing.
- Lilly Chin, the 2017 College Championship winner and John Pearson, the 2013 Teachers Tournament winner were the two alternates for this tournament.
- Seth suffered the bad luck of being eliminated first in this tournament after being eliminated from the preliminary round at the ToC.
- On the other hand, in the case of Alan and Matt, they took second place once again following the ToC, and in the case of Alan in particular, it is even more valuable because it was achieved amongst the strange champions with 10 consecutive wins.
- With this win, Brad maintained her place as the champion in human duels, and in the case of Larissa and David, it indirectly breaks the jinx that the strange female champion with 6 consecutive wins cannot win the Tournament and that the champion with 10 or more wins cannot win the Tournament. The former was then broken by Amy Schneider in 2022, and the latter was also broken by James Holzhauer winning ToC in 2019.
- After this competition, talented people who succeeded them continued to appear. A month after it aired, James Holzhauer smashed his 32nd straight winning streak, breaking the all-time personal highest prize money, then Emma Boettcher ended his streak before breaking Ken's total winnings, and a month after his departure, Jason Zuffranieri joined the long-running champions with a 19-game winning streak. Two month later, Jennifer Quail, Karen Farrell, and MacKenzie Jones joined the long-running champions with an 8-game streak. Two years later, Matt Amodio joined another millionaire with a 38-game winning streak, followed by Jonathan Fisher's 11-game winning streak and Amy Schneider's 40-game winning streak a month later, setting the second-longest winning streak ever. Ryan Long later joined the long-running champions with a 16-game streak, then Mattea Roach with a 23-game streak, then Cris Pannullo with a 21-game winning streak, then Ray Lalonde with a 13-game streak, then Stephen Webb and Hannah Wilson with a 8-game streak, then Ben Chan with a 9-game streak, then Adriana Harmeyer with a 15-game streak, then Drew Basile with a 7-game streak, and then Isaac Hirsch with a 9-game streak. Accordingly, viewers are expecting that the most famous scenes of all time will come out when this special feature is reopened.
- A negative score at the end of Double Jeopardy! hadn't been acknowledged on the air.
- The spin-off Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which will air from December 4, 2024, will be held in a similar format to this special.
