Trivia[]

  • There was no College Championship in Season 1, 2, 3, 4, 31, 35 and 37.
  • The first winner, Tom Cubbage, also won the 1989 ToC, with Jeff Stewart runner-up at the 1994 ToC and Cliff Galiher third at the 2007 ToC.
  • As of 2022, only Stanford has produced two winners (S18 and S22); it also has the most finalists with four. Harvard, Southern California, Notre Dame, MIT, and Texas A&M have each had three finalists.
  • On five occasions, a College Championship featured two players representing the same school — Season 7 (Wayne State); Season 8 (North Carolina); Season 13 (Loyola - New Orleans); Season 15 (Northwestern); Season 17 (Washington).
  • Trophies are also awarded to the winners of this competition.
  • As with Wheel of Fortune's university specials, all contestants wear their university's uniform.
