The Jeopardy! Professors Tournament is a two-week event that features College Professors, hence the tournament's name. It became the first Jeopardy! tournament to make its debut in the post-Trebek era, and is a spin-off of the Teachers Tournament. Just like its predecessor, the Professors Tournament has $100,000 for 1st place (along with a spot in the Tournament of Champions), $50,000 for 2nd place, and $25,000 for 3rd place. Eliminated semi-finalists win $10,000 apiece, and eliminated quarter-finalists win $5,000 apiece, the same cash payout format used since 2004 for the College Championship. Just like other tournaments, this tournament has 5 quarterfinal matches, 3 semi-final matches, and the 2-day finals.
