In the first quarterfinal game, Genova[2] faced off against Elise Beraru and Ric Moser. Throughout the first two rounds of the game, Genova came up with 7/9 correct questions (including 0/1 Daily Double). Everybody got Final Jeopardy! incorrect, but after losing to Ric, Genova and Elise received $1,000 since their final scores, $0 ($1,800) and $0 ($6,400), were not enough to advance to the semifinals by wildcard.

In the second game of round one, Genova[3] faced off against Michael Rankins and Rachael Schwartz. Throughout the first two rounds of the game, Genova came up with 5/9 correct questions. Everybody got Final Jeopardy! correct, but after losing to Rankins[4], Genova and Rachael received $5,000 each.
