John Lawrence Sweeney (age 53) was a 1994 Jeopardy College Championship quarterfinalist and professional educator. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1989 and from the University of Nebraska in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in science. he graduated with an MA in education (curriculum and instruction) from Concordia University in 2004. He was married on September 11, 2011, in Tower Hall Malcolm Nebraska to Paige Lindstedt. he worked at Lincoln Lutheran High School until 2015 and now regularly subs at Waverly High School. He also works at the SuperSaver on the North side of Lincoln, NE.

In 1994 John was selected to participate in the Jeopardy college championship quarterfinals. (season 10 episode 2236) he played against Brooke Gallagher and Brian Johnson where he placed 3rd out of 3 and walked away with $1000.
