In the first play-in game hosted by 9-time champion and 2017 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions winner Buzzy Cohen, Julie faced off against Anji Nyquist and Nik Berry. Throughout the first two rounds of the game, Julie came up with 18/21 correct questions (including 0/2 Daily Doubles). Nobody got Final Jeopardy! correct, but after losing to Nik, Anji and Julie left empty-handed.
