Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born on April 24, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter, actress and author. She hit it big thanks to her victory on American Idol.

Biography[]

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly Clarkson's been singing since she was a young girl. She did high school plays and even sang in the high school talent show, before graduating from Burleson High School. Upon graduation, Kelly received scholarships from several colleges & universities, but turned them all down.

Career[]

In the time since her high school graduation, Kelly was struggling to make it big in the music industry, having worked odd jobs and being an extra in TV shows such as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Dharma & Greg. But in 2002, she finally hit pay dirt and had her life changed forever when she was chosen to be one of the first contestants on American Idol. Get this, she went all the way and won, defeating fellow contestant Justin Guarini. Since then, Kelly has unleashed a boatload of hits, appeared on many TV shows and gone on several tours. On September 9, 2019, Kelly began hosting her daytime talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show, in November 2019, the show got renewed for a second season beginning in September 2020.

Personal Life[]

Kelly is currently married to talent manager Brandon Blackstock, whose father (Kelly's manager Narvel Blackstock) was married to Reba McEntire for 26 years from 1989 to 2015. The couple have two children: daughter River Rose (b. June 12, 2014) and son Remington Alexander (b. April 12, 2016). Kelly has filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020.
