In the first quarterfinal game, Kim faced off against Lyn Payne and Fred Ramen. Throughout the first two rounds, Kim came up with 11/13 correct questions. Everyone got Final Jeopardy! correct, but after losing to Lyn, Kim and Fred advanced to the semifinals by wildcard as their $8,200 and $10,000 were enough.
In the third semifinal game, Kim faced off against Grace Veach and Sahir Islam. Throughout the first two rounds, Kim came up with 18/20 correct questions (including 2/2 Daily Doubles). Kim was the only player to get Final Jeopardy! correct, and after a come-from-behind win, he advanced to the finals while Grace and Sahir received $5,000.
In the finals, Kim faced off against Bob Harris and Dan Melia. Throughout the finals, Kim came up with 28/35 correct questions (including 0/2 Daily Doubles). Kim and Dan came up with 2/2 correct questions in Final Jeopardy!, but after losing to Dan (in a runaway game), Kim received $15,000 for first runner-up.
