Michael G. Richards (born July 5, 1975 in Burbank, California), also known as Mike Richards, is a television personality and producer.

Career[]

Richards is known as the second host of Beauty and the Geek, and he has produced numerous game shows including The Weakest Link. Richards was the executive producer of the CBS game shows The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal from 2009 to 2019, and was a candidate to host Price before Drew Carey was chosen. Richards also hosted two GSN originals: the 2012 revival of The Pyramid and the 2017-18 U.S. version of Divided.

On August 29, 2019, Sony announced that Richards would succeed Harry Friedman as the executive producer of both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! starting with the 2020-21 season.On November 8, 2020, he has announced on Jeopardy about the passing of Alex Trebek, the former original host. He was the second person to serve as an interim host of Jeopardy! following Alex Trebek's death. In August 2021, Richards was announced as the permanent host of the daily syndicated series, while fellow guest hostess Mayim Bialik would host any future primetime specials and/or spin-off series. But, after only one day's taping of the first 5 episodes for the season, Mike announced that he was stepping down not only from hosting but also his EP job after controversial and offensive comments from past podcasts had resurfaced.

  • When he took on production for Wheel of Fortune Season 39, it was said that the detonation of the cannons would be limited to winning $1,000,000 BR, and he was going to make a tournament special like Jeopardy!. However, due to the unavoidable departure, this was not the case.
