Nailed It! is a reality cooking competition series where three amateur bakers compete to replicate complicated cakes and confectionery in order to win a $10,000 cash prize along with a "nailed it" trophy. According to the tagline, "It's part reality contest, part hot mess!". Keep in mind that this should not be confused with the similarly named Nail'd It! that aired on the Oxygen network in 2014.
Premise[]
Inspired by the craze of people trying and failing to make elaborate cakes they found on the internet (mainly YouTube), three amateur bakers with demonstrated poor baking skills attempt to re-create edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize and the Nailed It! trophy. The series have competitors take part in only two challenges over the course of the 35-minute episodes.
Baker's Choice[]
Contestants pick one of three existing confectionary treats and try to recreate it in 1 hour (sometimes only 3/4ths the time, 45 minutes). The winner of the challenge gets a special prize and is allowed to wear a golden chef's hat.
Nail It or Fail It[]
Contestants have only two hours (sometimes 3/4ths the time, 1 hour 30 minutes) to recreate a complicated cake from scratch. they each receive a "Panic Button" which allows them to get three minutes of assistance from one of the expert judges. The worst-performing baker from the first challenge gets a second button in order to distract the other bakers - the specific function values depending on the episode, but normally involves distracting or sabotaging the other bakers. The three judges decide on the winning cake based upon presentation and taste. The winner receives a trophy and the $10,000 cash prize.
