Peter Marshall (born Pierre LaCock on March 30, 1926, in Huntington, WV, died August 15, 2024) was the original host and "The Master" of The Hollywood Squares, from 1966 to 1981. He had almost fifty television, movie, and Broadway credits. His stage name, Peter Marshall, reportedly derived from the college in his hometown (Marshall College, which became Marshall University in 1961).
Marshall lost his life to kidney failure on August 15, 2024 at age 98. He was predeceased by his son David, who died in 2021 from COVID-19. He is survived by his third wife, Laurie Stewart, his four children and two stepchildren; one of them is former MLB player Pete LaCock.
