Robot Wars logo used for the original UK version
Robot Wars is a UK game show which initially ran between 1998 and 2004, and was revived for a reboot run between 2016 and January 2018. The show originated from a US-based robot combat event of the same name created by Marc Thorpe, which ran between 1994 and 1997.
Ten series of the main UK version were produced alongside two series of a spin-off show, Robot Wars Extreme, as well as multiple international versions for TV networks in the United States, the Netherlands and Germany. All of the latter series were filmed in the United Kingdom using the same Arena, pit area and House Robots as the original version.
Three separate versions were created for two US broadcasters, one of which was a redub of the fourth UK Series. Additionally, an unaired pilot episode, American Robot Wars 2000, was filmed in the UK in July 2000 for a prospective MTV version of the show.
