Week #01[]

Three years after an attempt to launch a Syndicated run with Los Angeles-based personality Steve Edwards went nowhere, a new version, with a brand new set and music package, premiered at Noon along with Scattergories as part of the network's short-lived "Board Game Afternoon" block. Both shows were merely stopgaps for NBC, which was drifting further and further away from Game Shows to Soaps and Talk Shows. The only gameplay change made was that the Blue & Pink Bonus Squares (still worth $500 and $1,000 respectively) were now for the Bonus Sprint jackpot, which began at $1,000, and increased every time a word correctly guessed on those squares until it was won, a gameplay element based on the February 1985 tournament's jackpot. George Seeley, the final champion from the original series, returned on the premiere episode. On Tuesday, an extra $500 was added by mistake to the Bonus Sprint jackpot that was won; it actually got to $3,500. No episode aired on Wednesday due to the inauguration of Bill Clinton as president.
