Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born February 2, 1977), is a Colombian singer-songwriter, dancer, record producer, choreographer, and model.

Shakira has won many awards including five MTV Video Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, twenty-eight Billboard Latin Music Awards, and has been Golden Globe-nominated.

Shakira's had a knack for music since she was only four, after hearing Arabic music, and started to belly dance on the table at a Mid-East restaurant. As she was growing up, Shakira attended various events in her native Barranquilla, Colombia, and soon with the help of local theater producer Monica Ariza and Sony Colombia executive Ciro Vargas, she got a record deal.

Shakira is also the president & founder of the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a Colombian charity with special schools for poor children all around Colombia.

Shakira is also one of the judges on The Voice.
