TJ is Alex Trebek's eighth cousin twice removed.[1]
TJ is openly gay and had served on the board of directors for Campus Pride at Washington and Lee University, a national organization that works with schools to provide a safer environment for LGBTQ+ students.[2]

- Had he won his fifth game in a runaway, TJ would've became the eighth player with five runaway games in his first five regular-season play games, and the first since Ben Chan in 2023; the other six being Elise Beraru, Michael Day, Chuck Forrest, Jonathan Groff, Robin Carroll, and Rick Knutsen.[1]
- TJ is the first contestant to lose his sixth regular-season play game since Ben Ganger on May 5, 2025.
