Thanks to the Yanks was a quiz show sponsored by Camel Cigarettes and precursor to The Bob Hawk Show.
Broadcast[]
CBS Radio (Weekly): 10/31/1942 – 6/23/1944
Host[]
Bob Hawk
Format[]
Hawk stood in a pulpit at the end of a catwalk and asked questions to audience contestants. Four announcers worked the audience with portable microphones. The contestant would choose to answer a question worth either 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 cigarettes, depending on the difficulty of the question. A correct answer meant they were sent to their choice of serviceman for free. An incorrect answer meant they were thrown into a duffel bag and sent to highly remote camps in the country.
