The Game Channel (not to be confused with the now defunct Filipino channel that was also heavily devoted to game shows of the same name) was a failed attempted spin-off of The Family Channel (formerly CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network], then Fox Family, then later ABC Family and now Freeform) that was supposedly devoted to both interactive and classic game shows 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, similar to Game Show Network (later GSN) and to much lesser extent, Buzzr. In addition, the network was even promoted heavily by legendary game show host Wink Martindale. According to an issue of Broadcasting & Cable magazine (originally release on May 11, 1992) the network was originally set to launch on June 1, 1994 which ultimately never happened later on. However, its UK counterpart (known as Challenge TV or Challenge) was launched on September 1, 1993 (or 1 September 1993) and has continued to air there ever since.
