The Great Food Truck Race features teams representing the country's best food trucks hit the road to cook their way across America in this reality competition series.
Premise[]
Each week, the teams that sell the most food race on to the next episode while the losing team drives home. In the end, one food truck remains and the team behind the wheel and the grill wins the $50,000 grand prize. The race drives around the country to many different places.
Elements of Gameplay[]
The same amount of seed money is given to each team and they all start with no food to make the competition fair.
Challenges appear and trucks who win challenges get additional money added to their till totals, or even immunity, in some cases.
Truck Stop[]
Introduced in season 2, but not truly called that until season 4 where the name was really put into motion and used in season 5, A team who finished a special "Truck Stop" challenge goal the fastest, and drove to a preset destination, would get "first place" (and there would be "second place" and sometimes even "third place" bonuses worth less). By season 6, the name was dumped to allow for more variety in challenges.
Speed Bump[]
Introduced in season 2, this was meant to throw a twist to the race and keep teams on their feet to make sure the food truck race was no easy task.
