Ultimate Tournament of Champions[]

In the 32nd game of the first round, he went against 5-time champion and 1987 ToC 2nd runner-up Eugene Finerman and 1999-B Teen Tournament winner Chacko George, answered 18 right responses and nine (including 2 Daily Doubles) wrong responses. However, in the Final, he got it right, added $6,999, but it was not enough to beat Finerman, who advanced to Round 2.

Trivia[]

  • Tom won 4 games ($45,690), losing his 5th, in games aired January 31 to February 4, 1994. 8 months later, he returned to the show on October 10, 1994 (because of a "clue discrepancy") whereupon he won an additional $11,990 to become a 5-time champion, just in time for the 1994 Tournament of Champions, which aired the following month. (Had he not won his return game, his 4-day total was high enough that he’d have qualified for the Tournament of Champions anyway.)
  • He is the first champion among the contestants to sit in every position once.
