Your Lucky Strike was an early talent competition that aired on radio.

Broadcast[]

CBS Radio (Daily): 12/6/1948 – 3/4/1949

Host[]

Don Ameche

Announcer[]

Frank Martin

Format[]

The show was a forum for talented unknowns; these were people who had some professional experience, but had not received broad popularity. Each of them brought to the show a human interest story and a performing talent. The judging was done by three random housewives, who changed each week, and voted via long distance telephone calls. The judges were selected by friends in the studio audience. The decision of the housewives was final, but if they failed to reach a majority vote, the studio audience made the final decision. Winners received professional engagement at a popular club.

Trivia[]

The show was named for its sponsor: Lucky Strike cigarettes, and L.A. "Speed" Riggs was its auctioneer.

The show was also known as The Don Ameche Show.
